Thanks so much for the set of Print It Now frames. They're all great! Ali Edwards recently posted a question and answer series. The August 21st post had a question about private info on layouts and blogs, so maybe this would be helpful for you.

Thanks again, Beth!
And GREAT, now I will be thinking if I shouldn't pull info off. My oldest is starting Kindergarten this year too. It is something to ponder.

Thank you so much for the beautiful frames, Beth! I worry about the same things as you as far as posting layouts online; however, I delete all journaling and all names from the layouts I share on-line. I'm not sure if that does much for privacy but it makes me feel a little bit better. :)

Hi Beth! Thanks for the frames. I love them. You're so generous with your talent. As for the privacy thing, I'm with you. I have occasionally thought about starting a blog, but I just don't want strangers having access to my family's life. On the other hand, I love reading other people's blogs! I hope you don't stop blogging, because I love your perspective on life, but I completely understand why you would want to avoid personal, identifying details.

Thanks for the freebie! I really like it.

I go back and forth on the privacy thing. Our last name is part of the blog title, so there goes any anonymity. I do make some posts password protected though, like the potty training ones or anything that could be embarrassing or too revealing. But sometimes I wonder if that is enough. It is hard, because I do like sharing pictures and layouts.

I hear you, Beth! I've always been on the paranoid side, so I don't have much to take down, but I do wonder about how much information is out there about my kids. It STUNS me when I see people posting full names and birth dates for all and sundry to see. Guess I'm paranoid about identity theft, too! My blog has always been password protected, with a password that even my major technogeek friends complain about. But sometimes I worry about the layouts I post. . . Sometimes I delete journaling and blur faces, but I know that's not nearly as much fun to look at, so I wonder why even bother to post them? It's a tough issue, and you have a very good point! The things that delight us as parents, or frustrate us and make us want to talk/blog about, can be mortifying to a child/teen. And just taking it down doesn't mean it's not out there, somewhere, if someone knows how and is motivated enough to look. . .

thank you for the freebie!!

privacy is always on our minds - my husband has a job that makes us think twice about having our names on anything and everything - we have tried blocking the phone number making it unlisted ect but you get on the net and you can pull up anything somethings are quite scary but it is out there wether you like it or not I have thought alot about making my blog private but at the same time i love being able to surf people's blogs and end up finding people i once knew - it is a hard hard decision on what is enough and what is too much one only you can make as long as you feel comfortable and safe that is what matters

I seem to go back & forth on the privacy thing. I wasn't going to blog because of it, then I started one that was going to be strictly scrapbooking. Then I got into it & post a lot more. Somehow it does come up in searches with my name. It has come up with my daughters names, I think I have corrected that though.

My oldest is going into middle school though & now I am starting to worry more. Elementary school nothing ever came up, but I have a feeling that changes in middle school.

Like you, I would hate for something to embarrass my kids that I put out there!

The frames are cute! As for the kids at school finding info on the internet, when you live in a town as small as mine, everyone has known you since you were born anyway. You can't hide anything in Mayberry RFD.

Thanks for these wonderful frames and for encouraging us to Print It Now! Great idea!

As a former teacher, I understand your privacy concerns. I'd worry much less about the embarrassment factor (hopefully you've taught your kids how to deal with other children's unkind comments) than about the stranger factor. I've only just lately learned about your blog, so I don't know how much personal info you've shared. If you don't say where you live, or list your last names, that'd be a big help as far as the predator factor. These are interesting times, but sometimes worrying, eh? Good luck with making these decisions. It's great that you're thinking carefully about them.

Beth - Thank you for your fabulous freebies. I send monthly postcards to the Grandparents/Great Grandparents who all live out of state, and this is such a cute, quick, and easy way to make the photos more than "just photos."

Regarding privacy, I am fully in agreement with you and act much the same way as you with privacy. I never use my last name on blogs, nor do I use anything more than perhaps the state where I live. Often the kids are "my son" and "my daughter" instead of their names (which are a bit more unique). And it's also why I choose not to post most of my layouts in galleries or be on creative teams. My layouts are all very journaling intense and would reveal more than necessary to the general viewing public. By and large, the scrapping community is a "family" and I'm not worried about them -- but more than just the scrapping community can view things we put up there.

Thanks so much for the freebie frames Beth!!!

As far as privacy and the internet, I guess I have a different view. I can understand your concern (and others) but I have been so much a part of this technology that I can't say I am overly protective of my own. I suppose I could equate it to requesting a non-published phone number. I did that at one time and it was actually more trouble than it was worth, especially when my daughter started school and friends started to call. There is SO MUCH info about you on the internet already, the personal bits you post probably don't give much more info. I can already use Google Maps to find my house on the internet and then literally walk up to my front door using the "street view"!!!!! There is no way to stop much of this info. I know that I have also found income estimates online of families I know - including my own. I can only verify that my own was totally accurate. Public records, ss#s etc can be found without too much trouble. I think that knowledge I gain from accessing the internet outweighs my loss of privacy - especially when it comes to public records databases. Bottom line....While I appreciate your concern and support any measures you feel are necessary - I don't feel the same level of concern for protecting my own privacy.

I think about that sort of thing alot...I guess that is why I don't really journal on the LO's that I do that are publically seen. Thank you so much for the freebie!!!

Thanks for the frames, I collected all three of them now!

I totally agree with you on this internet issue. My eldest daughter is 6 years old now and absolutely doesn´t like me to share information about her in public. She thinks it´s embarressing and also doesn´t want me to talk with my friends about her. That´s a pity because she was one of my favourite subjects, but well, that´s her human right.

Love the frames Beth Thank you! :)
As for the privacy thing, I always change names and places/dates etc in any layouts I post online, heck who knows even my kids names might not be right?! lol! Maybe I don't go that far, but I never post surnames or school/town names, if I do then they are fictional! :)

I love these! Thanks for sharing!

I have to say that I'm fairly paranoid about posting pictures of my son or any personal information myself. I RARELY post anything under my real name, and I don't download freebies from people who have them listed in a store that ask for a bunch of information. I don't think that the school bully would be perusing your blog, I worry more about things like sexual predators, pedofiles, identity theft, scary things like that

I snagged them all because I loved them all... Thank you!

These frames are totally adorable, thank you for sharing them :)

Hey ya know I never really thought about that angle of posting things. Where someone would tease your child. My Granddaughter is only 2 so I am not to that spot yet but thanks for sharing your thoughts. Sort of made me think a bit and ya know that is always good! hee hee

I think you are smart to handle this the way you are.

As a practice, I never posted a lot of pictures of my nieces when they were younger and when I spoke of them, any kids actually, on my blog, I use intiials. I still do for kids under 13. 13 is the general cut off for accounts online anyway and by 13 the are building their own online persona.

Even so, I'm careful that I don't put any information that can be the equivalent of a cyber GPS tag on anyone. Even for the adults, I don't use last names on my blog. (although some full names are available at business sites) I guess the most important thing as far as safety you've got covered, kids are never too young to learn about being safe at home, when out or on the web!

The girls are a week away from 14 now. If I'm posting funny pictures or stories of them, I shot them an email and get their okay first. Honestly, they aren't even that interested in my blog, let alone their friends, but better to b safe, and respectful of their feelings too!

You're definitely doing the right thing and it seems like you've had the right idea all along.
